Tread Sprightly is a collection of colourful textile and painted works adorned with folkloric nature motifs and mischievous fantastical sprites. Paintings, flags, banners and round wooden shields or talismans display heraldic-esque symbols to communicate a rambling journey. Striding over rolling hills women (inclusive of all people who identify as women) walk through greenways cultivating strength within themselves. The works are inspired by the journey of a 6th Century Irish woman, St Gobnait and her magical bees whose honey is credited with saving an entire village from the plague. This resonates with the Pandemic Era and the journey of both Gobnait and the artist to connect with nature’s healing embrace while venturing in greenspace.Tread Sprightly is a celebration of moments where women are able to come into their own strength, overcome obstacles, connect to themselves, and with nature, allowing them to create, belong, help others and enjoy happiness and peace.
